BEING A RECYCLE HERO IN YOUR HOME
- Don't leave the refrigerator or freezer door open.
- Keep doors and windows close when the heat or air conditioning is on.
- If you don't have central air conditioning, only use the air conditioning units in occupied rooms.
- You might ask your parents or guardians if they could adjust the house thermostat just one or two degrees lower in cold months and higher in hot months.
FUN WAYS TO HELP OUR PLANET
- Separate all recyclable items, placing paper, cardboard, tin cans, and glass containers in their special bins.
- Use a special reusable water bottle or eco-canteen instead of plastic water bottles.
- Talk to your family about reducing the number of paper towels, paper napkins, and paper dishes you use.
- To help protect wildlife ask your mom or dad or other adult to cut up plastic garbage, even the plastic bread wrappers before throwing them away.
- Ask your parents permission to clean up litter and recyclable items from around your home. Be sure to wear gloves, and don't touch broken glass or anything sharp.
